From the Principal….
Kia ora e whānau,
I am writing this school newsletter from our Year 5-8 Camp at the Hanmer Springs Forest Camp. I can report that our first day on Camp with 72 children and 15 Adults has been a great success. It has been action packed Camp so far with tree climbing, walking (actually for most running!) up Conical Hill, mountain biking, orienteering and high ropes activities. Dinner was very popular with most having seconds of their main meal and dessert! Our Year 5-8 children return from Hanmer Springs tomorrow at approximately 2.30pm. An enormous thank you to our staff (Mr Elliott, Mr Harrison & Miss Begg) and parents who have given up their work commitments to help us on this Camp. We couldn't provide this level of Education Outside the Classroom, without your incredible support and help! Photos of our Year 5-8 Hanmer Springs camp can be found on our St Patrick's Kaiapoi Facebook Page.
Meanwhile our Junior Whare participated in an awesome ‘Poetry Slam’ this afternoon, reciting their favourite poems and nursery rhymes. Thank you so much to the parents and families who could come and support this - this is an important life skill: to be able to stand up in front of an audience and present orally.
We send congratulations and best wishes to the following students:
Pavy, Iris, Ryder, Dylan, Hunter, Charli, Mikayla - (Patterns)
Ezra, Charlotte, Lilah, Spencer - (Symmetry names)
Archi, Mia, Huxley - (Black and white cut out shapes)
Spencer, Ethan, Estel - (Fraction pictures)
Arlo, Toby (Wassily Kandinsky hands)
Esha, Rayleigh, Oceana, (circle patterns)
Paige, Kaelan, Jaxx, Anna S, Riley, Sadie
Their Maths Art has been selected to be exhibited at the Kaiapoi Library for the next month, as part of the Kātote Kāhui Ako (cluster of 9 schools) Maths Art Exhibition. Everyone is welcome to call in during the Library's Opening Hours to view this amazing Exhibition!
