From the Principal….
Kia ora e whānau,
Thank you so much for your ongoing support especially with our special school events last week - the School Cross Country, the Jubilate Concert and the PTA School Disco. These events were examples of what amazing tamariki we have at St Patrick's School, they give everything a go even if it is hard and they support each other, like friends should! Our staff and students are excited and looking foward to… our Lively learning programme starting tomorrow, Friday 24th May. A special thank you to those parents who have offered to help with the biking or Explore Kaiapoi group! Please email office@stpatkai.school.nz if you are able to help any Fridays this term, between 11am - 12.30pm. Your children have chosen from the following exciting options:
Mrs Shaw - Biking group (email has been sent home about this, if your child has chosen this option)
Mrs McKendry - Explore Kaiapoi (email has been sent home about this if your child has chosen this option)
Miss Madeleine - Dance / Drama
Mr Harrison - Coding
Miss Begg - Paper mache
Mrs Kreft - Lego creations/challenge
Miss Abdelaal - Sports
Mr Elliot / Odin - DND (Drama)
Please also let us know if you have a passion / interest to share with our tamariki, during Lively Learning Time!
The placings of our St Patrick’s Cross Country runners will be recognised and awarded at our School Assembly, on Monday 27th May from 2.15pm.
Congratulations to …..these children who have qualified for the Pegasus Zone Cross Country on the 28th May @ Rangiora Showgrounds:

Next Thursday 30th May…. Odin and Eli have organised a Fundraiser for the Cholmondeley Children's Centre in Governor's Bay. Your children can wear their leisure wear or PJ's to school that day and have a movie afternoon, in exchange for a gold coin donation for Cholmondeley, to ensure that they can keep paying the amazing staff they employ. This was Odin's and Eli's idea and I think it is wonderful that they have taken action to make a difference in our community. Thank you Odin & Eli!

We are planning to open our eighth class in Term 3! This is very exciting and will ensure that we continue to provide the very best learning and class environment for your children, as we keep our class sizes as low as possible. Our class sizes in the middle whare will decrease, as our eighth class will be a Year 5/6 class in the Library. This will also enable us to welcome new children into Mrs Shaw's New Entrant class, so some children will need to move classes in Term 3. We will be contacting you directly via email if your child is moving to another class in Term 3, in two of weeks. We are currently spending time preparing for our eighth class and working out which children will need to move. Thank you for your patience while we do this.
Can you please email or call Janine in our school office if your contact details have changed recently, it is important that we have your current address, phone number and email address, in our school management system, if we need to contact you urgently. Our enrolments continue to increase, if you have a younger sibling to enrol, even if they don't start school for a couple of years, please enrol them as soon as possible, so that we can prioritise their enrolment on our list. You need to provide a Preference Card from a Priest and Birth Certificate, as part of the requirements for enrolment at St Patrick's School.
Please find attached below, a letter from Bishop Michael regarding the Attendance Dues for 2025 / 2026, for you to open and read.
If you would like to read our St Patrick's School policies you can access them on our school docs website. Please click on the link and enter: Username: stpatkai password: green

Wishing you all a very happy, restful and enjoyable weekend ahead!
Kind regards
