As Term One draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff, parents and families for all of their amazing support and work this term. It has been a successful and eventful term with so many things to celebrate, achieve and enjoy, and you have all helped with this. Our school community is such an enjoyable one to belong to and our children benefit from your help, support and care. Your children are ready for a break however it would be great if they could continue: training for our school Cross Country (which is on Thursday 9th May), reading to you and you reading to them! This helps to maintain and build upon the wonderful progress they have made this term.
We are sad to farewell Whaea Emma tomorrow. She has been instrumental as a class teacher and our SENCO (Special Education Needs Co-ordinator), in the Learning Support area of our school, for the last three years. We will miss her sense of fun and humour, and the way she connects and builds positive relationships with our students and their whānau. We are planning a special Farewell for Whaea Emma with her Kauri class tomorrow @ midday in our School Library. Parents and families are most welcome to join us for this special Farewell.
The Kauri teacher and Team Leader from the start of Term 2, is Mrs Erin Kreft, a talented and experienced teacher from St Joseph's School, Papanui. She visited Kauri and Whaea Emma yesterday, to meet her new class and find out all about Kauri class, what they love learning about, see their amazing passion projects and find out all of the important information about them! We are looking forward to welcoming Mrs Kreft to our school at our Mihi Whakatau, on Friday 3rd May.
We also farewelled Mrs Louise Ellis, one of our Superstar Teacher Aides today. Mrs Ellis is retiring from this role after twenty years at St Patrick's. She has made an incredible difference @ St Patrick's and given so much help and support to so many of our children, whether she is working with them in their classroom or in our beautiful Library. Luckily Mrs Ellis has agreed to stay on as our Librarian and to assist Miss Youngman with our Uniform shop. A special thank you to all of her family and friends who attended Mrs Ellis's Farewell Assembly today. Mr O'Dowd also graced us with his presence to help us thank and farewell Mrs Ellis!
Our School Board have recently approved our St Patrick's Strategic Plan for 2024 / 2025, after consultation with our School Community in 2023 and work with a Strategic Planner for some months. I have attached a copy of our 2024 / 2025 Strategic Plan for you to read. There is also a copy on our school website and in our school office. Please feel free to email me principal@stpatkai.school.nz if you have any wonderings, questions or feedback about this new Strategic Plan.
