From the Principal….

Kia ora koutou katoa,

Our school has been a hive of activity this week as our children learn more about our Cultural Narrative (the story and history of our school), the Junior Whare practise for their Christmas Production, our Board and Staff prepare our Strategic Plan and Road Map for the next two years, and staffing and budgets for 2024 are finalised. It seems hard to believe that after this week, we only have four more weeks at school! We finish school for the school year on Friday 15th December @ midday. We start our 2024 school year on Wednesday 31st January from 8.30am.

A reminder there is a Staff Only Professional Learning Day tomorrow: Thursday 16th November - attached to Show Weekend. Our school will be closed tomorrow while our Staff learn about the new Curriculum Refresh and start to write our end of year progress reports.

Our staffing for 2024 - please note we have been given extra staffing for 2024,  to start a 7th Class @ St Patrick's School, due to our increased roll.

Please note your children will spend the morning with their new teacher and their new class on Friday 1st December at our school -wide Orientation Day. Spending time in their 2024 class enables our children to transition smoothly and positively into their new class, for 2024. This will also give everyone an opportunity to welcome our new students for 2024. More information will be shared about our Orientation Day next week.

Please note that  Uniform Orders for Term One, 2024, need to be emailed or dropped into Janine in our Office, by Wednesday 29th November. If your Year 8 child (2024) would like a Year 8 Hoodie with their name on the back, they also need to be ordered by this date.

The HERO Parent App is being updated over the next couple of weeks. It’s important to us that whānau find joy in using Hero. Updates to the Hero Parent App will provide increased functionality, which will:

  • Streamline the ability for busy caregivers to access everything in one place, with extended landing page functionality.
  • Improve the user experience and navigation flow.
  • Level up the look and feel of the Hero App for caregivers.

We will notify you when the update is available.

We wish you all an enjoyable long Canterbury Anniversary weekend ahead!

Ma te Atua koe e manaaki me to whanau,

God's blessings on you and your family.

Kind regards

Trish McKendry

Family Donation

Just a reminder that we offer the 2 types of Family donation each term.

1.      This consists of the $150 to one family to assist in paying for an extracurricular activity for a child or children in that family.

2.      We also have the donation of 1 term of swimming lessons to one child. We feel that it is so important for our children to have confidence in the water and participate in after school activities. We also understand that these things can come with a large cost so we are hoping this can help many families. The swimming lessons will be available at both The Kaiapoi and Rangiora pools and this is valid for whole year, it does not need to be used straight away.

If you would like to apply for either of the above, please see Trish McKendry and ask for an application. This is handled very discreetly with only Trish knowing the recipients so please don’t be afraid to apply. You have until the end of each term to apply. It takes a village, and we are very happy that we can offer this to our school community.
